Oregon Landscape Contractor Bond
Landscape contracting businesses licensed by the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board must keep a surety bond (or letter of credit) on file. ORS 671.690, as updated by SB 864, establishes a $20,000 amount for ordinary licenses; LCB guidance keeps probationary-phase holders at $15,000.

Who requires it
Landscape contracting businesses need the LCB bond before the license issues or renews and must keep it active while licensed. This is not a CCB construction-contractor bond—construction endorsements under chapter 701 remain separate when that work requires CCB licensure.
How much is required
ORS 671.690 establishes a $20,000 bond or letter of credit for landscape contracting businesses. LCB materials provide the probationary-phase exception at $15,000. That $15,000 figure matches only the probationary path for most post–January 1, 2026 licensees—not the ordinary $20,000 requirement.
How to get and file it
Obtain an LCB landscape surety bond (or acceptable letter of credit) in the business’s licensed name—not merely an assumed business name. Email, fax, or mail the bond or an updated bond to the Landscape Contractors Board with the insurance certificate the board requires. Coverage must stay active for issuance and renewal. Update the board when the bond changes or when probationary status is removed and the higher amount applies. A lapsed bond can suspend the license.
