Arkansas Residential Roofing Contractor Bond

Arkansas residential roofing registrants must file a $15,000 surety bond with the Contractors Licensing Board before the registration is valid. Ark. Code § 17-25-604 requires a surety of at least fifteen thousand dollars with the roofing contractor registration certificate application. The Board publishes a dedicated Residential Roofing Registrant Surety Bond form for that filing.

Who requires it

Applicants and holders of an Arkansas roofing contractor registration certificate under Subchapter 6 of Chapter 25. This is not the commercial $10,000 contractor bond and is not a substitute for a residential builder license when the project requires that license.

How much is required

Section 17-25-604(d)(1) sets a minimum fifteen-thousand-dollar surety. The Board’s official registrant form uses a fixed $15,000 face for all residential roofing registrants.

How to get and file it

Have an Arkansas-licensed producer complete the Board’s $15,000 Residential Roofing Registrant Surety Bond with the name and EIN exactly as registered with the Secretary of State, then submit it with the roofing registration application and fee. Keep the bond filed for a valid registration. Follow Board renewal instructions and replace the instrument before any surety cancellation becomes effective.

Cost note

Fifteen thousand dollars is the required bond amount, not the premium you pay. See bond amount vs premium. Bond amount vs premium →

Frequently asked questions

Can a commercial $10,000 bond satisfy residential roofing registration?

No. Roofing registration requires the separate $15,000 Residential Roofing Registrant Surety Bond under § 17-25-604. Commercial contractors still need their own $10,000 commercial surety when that license applies.

Does every residential builder need this roofing bond?

Only roofing contractor registration certificate holders. Residential builder licenses are a different credential; Board forms do not treat the $15,000 roofing bond as the universal residential builder surety.
