Applicants and licensees for Illinois limited or unlimited roofing contractor licenses. Choose the amount that matches the license class you hold or seek. Local building permits and project performance bonds are separate and are not this statewide license bond.
Section 3 of the Act and Rule 1460.30 fix two license-class amounts: $10,000 for limited roofing contractors and $25,000 for unlimited roofing contractors. The amount follows the license type, not job size or contract value. Section 3.2 requires the bond to remain in force unless the insurer gives sixty days’ notice.
Confirm whether you are applying for a limited or unlimited roofing license, then have an authorized surety issue the matching ten-thousand-dollar or twenty-five-thousand-dollar bond on a form acceptable to IDFPR. Submit the bond with the roofing license application or renewal materials the Department requires. Keep the correct-class bond in force for the entire license term. If you move from a limited to an unlimited license, increase the amount to twenty-five thousand dollars before the class change becomes effective. Replace the bond before cancellation and notify IDFPR when the licensed name changes.
Ten thousand or twenty-five thousand dollars is the required bond amount for your license class, not the premium you pay. See bond amount vs premium. Bond amount vs premium →
Use ten thousand dollars for a limited roofing contractor license and twenty-five thousand dollars for an unlimited license. The Department’s application materials identify the class you are seeking.
No. The statewide license bond amounts are fixed by license class. A specific project may still require a separate performance or payment bond under the contract or a local ordinance; that is not this IDFPR license bond.

Illinois new and used motor vehicle dealers that act as designated agents of the Secretary of State must post a fifty-thousand-dollar surety bond or certificate of deposit for each licensed location. The instrument is filed on SOS Form RTDS47 and supports dealer licensing under 625 ILCS 5/5-101 and 5-102. Section 5-107 can exempt dealers that have been continuously licensed since 1983, or that faithfully complied with the bond requirement for sixty consecutive months after January 1, 2018, until the Secretary of State finds a title/registration fee or tax delinquency.
